The Donnas are usually cool with photo's, but I made sure to get the ok since Sept 11 weighs so heavy on everything these days. It didn't really matter too much, but Donna R did remember to check to see if I was getting any hassle from the bouncers.

When I arrived the club was pretty empty. Some of the Eyeliners and Donnas were hanging out at the merch booths waiting for things to get going. I had a quick chat with Donna R, and got Lisa from the Eyeliner's to do a Whatever "Shameless Promo" shot. The tour was going really well and everybody seemed in good spirits. The Donnas seemed to really dig the bill for this tour, and they said shows were pretty packed.

The Kicks started the evening off. I'd never heard of them but I figured if they were good enough to tour with the Donnas then they must be pretty good. They played power pop with some punk edges, and were actually really good. There weren't too many people at the club when they started, but they were able to get everybody's attention with some really well done songs. Somewhere on this page there is a photo of the Donnas hanging out in the crowd watching the Kicks. If it was worth their time, it's worth yours.

The Eyeliners were up next. The Eyeliners are a three piece all female punk band of sisters. Gel their guitar player really rocks the shit during their set. She plays behind her back on the amp, all over the place. They have a brand new CD, "Sealed with a Kiss" out on Panic Button. Check it out. Their set was great.

The Donnas set was really great. I'll admit that I am biased but it makes my week, if not month seeing them play. The Donna's are still touring behind "Turn 21," and they should be recording again soon. Their set was a good mix of their 'old' stuff and the Turn 21 stuff. They did "Are You Gonna Move it for Me," "Do You Wanna Hit It," "Get You Alone," "Rock and Roll Machine," "You've Got a Crush on Me," " Hyperactive," "Checkin' it Out," "Play My Game," "Midnight Snack," "Didn't Like You Anyway," "Get Rid of That Girl," "Doing' Donuts," "Huff all Night," "Skintight," "40 Boys in 40 Nights," and "Lets Go Mano."

All in all it was a really good show. It was nice that it wasn't too packed, but I would have liked to seen more Providence folks showing up for the Donnas. A few days after this show the Donnas were in a car accident on their way to a photo shoot for some kind of memorial book for September 11. They were in a limo that got hit by somebody else I guess. Allison needed stitches and Mya hurt her back or neck. They dropped the last bunch of dates from the tour, but they'll be recording and touring again soon. Send them well wishes if you want, and keep an eye out for the Eyeliners and the Kicks.
